The Consortium for IT Software Quality (CISQ): Industry Drives Standards for Source Code Measurement

Dr. Bill Curtis, Director
CISQ (USA)

CISQ was formed in 2009 as an industry response to the need for standards to support automated source code measurement. These measures are increasingly needed for benchmarking and managing the costs, risks, and quality of internal and outsourced application development and maintenance. OMG and SEI are working together to bring IT organisations, system integrators, outsourcers, and package vendors together to develop standards for measures computable at the source code level in order to reduce their cost and expand their use in customer-supplier relationships.
Motivation, background, and current status will be described for each of the five areas selected for work;
1) functional measurement, 2) maintainability, 3) reliability and performance, 4) security, and 5) best practices for using source code measures.
